Things I miss
I miss bath time with my children
I miss how my kids smelled after their baths
I miss reading them a story
I miss the little feet running through the house
I miss the hot wheel cars and army men that were in every nook and cranny
I miss the nightly "tuck-ins"
I miss their sweet little voices calling me mommy
I miss kissing boo boos
I miss my kids looking up to me
I miss singing to them and rocking them to sleep
I miss that first smile of the morning when getting them out of their cribs
I miss their sense of wonder
I miss their whats and whys
I miss snuggling
I miss my kids being children!
Now, it's
Did you take a shower, or get out of there, you've been in there too long
The smell of bodywash just about knocks you down
Did you do your schoolwork
Stop stomping up there
Electronics scattered everywhere
Yelling upstairs, time to go to bed
The sound of Mom when they don't agree
Not being able to fix a broken heart
Looking up to my children
Listening to their crazy music
The silence of morning
The loss of the excitement of new things
They think I don't know anything
The occasional hug
One day, perhaps, I'll miss this phase as well!

Hello February!
February already? Where did January go? Maybe it flew by so quickly because I slept most of it away. The crud has hit me hard and it's still hanging on. I'm so ready to feel better and soooo ready for spring! Ready to see the browns of winter turn into the greens of spring! I hate the brown grass, leafless trees, hibernating flowers and the cold damp temperatures. I need to smell the fresh cut grass, need to bask in the sun, and see God's beauty bud once again! But, until then, I'll just enjoy the glorious sunsets that bring such beauty!

Hello, 2013!
Well, it's January 7, 2013, a little late, but Happy New Year!
I have to admit, I was happy to say goodbye to 2012, and I am ready to see what 2013 has in store! Resolutions? Nah ... not much of a resolution person. Why put all that pressure on myself?
2013, so far, has been cloudy, cold, dreary, and depressing. But, you can't have sunshine without a little rain, right? Now that Christmas is over, I'm ready for spring and summer! I hate the brown grass, ugly shrubs, half-leafless trees and flowerless plants! I also really hate the heater running!! I'll take the A/C any day!
In 2013 I will smile more, laugh more, relax more, spend time with friends and family more, read more, and lots of other "mores"! Those aren't resolutions, they are necessities! It's funny, the older you get, the more you realize what is important in life! Why can't we know these things when we are young?
I hope you all have a Blessed year full of all the things that make you happy!
Love,
Jodi

Happy Birthday Jake!

1 year old! |
You came into this world on December 29, 1998 at 10:18 am weighing 9 lbs. 6 oz, and 20 1/2 inches long. You were almost 4 weeks early, but you were more than ready to be born! You came out screaming! I was so happy to finally see your sweet face and hold you! We had a rough time the 8 months before you entered this world! You were perfect! Our family was now complete!
Your Dad and I are so proud of you! You are smart, funny, compassionate, and a million other things!
I hope this birthday will bring another year of great things in your life! We love you more than anything!
1 year old, loved being outside!

"It's my birthday, I'll cry if I want too!"
I just had a birthday. I just turned 46, where and when did 47 decide to make such an unwanted appearance? Guess I'll just have to embrace this one like the previous 10 or so that were unwelcome, but inevitable.
Birthday's are so much fun when we're children, teens, young adults, then they become just another day, a day we realize we're getting older. I wish I had my wisdom and experience at 30 that I have now, but what fun would that have been!?! I wish I had my young body, unwrinkled face, and energy now that I had when I was 30, but again, what fun would that be? I get to use the excuse, "because I'm old, and you're not" now!
I hated my birthday growing up. This isn't news to those who know me well. I hated having to share my special day with Christmas. I hated having a cake (if I had one) that had Christmas stuff on it. I hated hearing "Oh, your birthday gift is in with your Christmas gift", as if MY birthday wasn't special all on it's on. Now, it doesn't matter so much. I actually enjoy having my birthday during a time when most are happy and "in" the spirit of Christmas.
So, this year, I'll embrace another birthday, Thank God for another year and pray for another filled with blessings!
